I’ve been really lazy today and I’ve found myself in front of the telly watching The Biggest Loser encore (I can’t find the control either, ugh). But fuck, I am so angry. One man who got chosen to be on the show was like ‘I’ve treated women with respect and everything else and the only thing I guess that was wrong was my weight’. Another girl was on it who had never had a boyfriend, been on a date and she said she never made eye contact with men to save herself from embarrassment. One of the hosts also asked the question ‘who has never been in love?’ and almost everyone put up their hands. Maybe I took this in the wrong way but I saw that it was as if to say, no one has ever loved anyone of these people because of their weight. If you picked a random 20 or so people off the street and asked who has never been in love, the answer would probably be the exact fucking same. Their weight should not impact who loves them/is in love with them. There were a lot more things said but I wasn’t really paying attention/was angry and raging in my head, but anyway. I mean, I totally support living a healthy lifestyle and eating well and feeling good, but this show is wrong. This ‘singles’ edition of the show is pathetic and basically promoting the fact that no one will ever love or even like you if you are chubby. That is wrong. Anyone that never loved any of these people for their weight and that alone is completely wrong. These moronic, shallow imbeciles are in the wrong, not the innocent dudes/dudettes on the show. I understand the people on this show want to lose weight and change their lives, blah blah blah, but I believe that they should be doing that for themselves, not to ‘find a soulmate’. I also believe that this show should start off with confidence boosting training, teaching the contestants to love themselves for who they are AT THE START OF THE SHOW (before weight has been lost, because they probably all ROCK), and then, who ever wants to continue on the show can be taught healthier eating and living habits. The right person would love you regardless of your weight. They wouldn’t care if you weighed as much as an elephant or as much as a mouse (I know that’s impossible, but shhhhhhh). TV is dumb, this is why I should just stick to watching anime online.
